At The Summit School, we recognize that students benefit from continued academic enrichment over the long summer months. Summer at Summit offers camps targeted towards students grades 1 through 10 who need additional support in reading, writing, math, or executive functions skills. Summer at Summit helps to mitigate the summer slide and prepare students for back-to-school success.
Camp Summit (July 6-31, 2020) offers students grades 1-8 a nurturing environment in which students build self-confidence and have fun. The camp morning offers one hour each of: reading, math, and oral/written expression, while afternoons are full of recreation.
Executive Function Camp (August 2020) explicitly teaches students skills that set them up for academic success, such as: organization, time management, study skills, and more. Students benefit even more with built-in follow up sessions during the school year to check in on progress and prepare for a successful year.
EmPOWER™ Writing Skills Camp (August 2020) teaches students the tenants of the EmPOWER Writing process, which is based on solid research and developed to help students connect oral language, organization of thought and writing. Students can use the EmPOWER method for any writing assignment in any grade level and any subject area.
By combining Executive Function and EmPOWER™ Writing Skills Camps for a full day, students learn key organizational skills, study skills, and how to prioritize their tasks in the morning; then learn a writing process that students can apply to a variety of writing assignments in the afternoon!
