Summit was founded in 1989 by Jane Snider, Ed.D., as a co-ed, not-for-profit school for bright students with dyslexia and other learning differences. Our students are often diagnosed with learning disabilities by specialists in the field. At Summit, our preference is to view those disabilities as differences because we emphasize the gifts each student brings, help them reach their potential, as well as remediate their skills.

The 15-acre campus is located in Edgewater, MD, just 8 miles south of Annapolis, MD. Students come from Anne Arundel and nine surrounding counties and the District of Columbia.

Each year, Summit enrolls approximately 100 students in grades 1-8.

Summit’s overall student/staff ratio is 4:1.

Summit is not an ordinary school, it is extraordinary. After more than 20 years of success we have successfully transitioned more than 400 students to the areas finest high schools, and later, to some of the best colleges and universities in the country.

At Summit, we transform lives. Our goal is to remediate skills, and allow students to maximize their talents and abilities. Our teacher training program is unique and extensive, week to week, to hone every professional’s talents.

Minimal student progress is unacceptable. We are devoted to developing every student to reach potential for success in high school, college, and life.

Financial aid is offered to approximately 25-30% of families each year, based on need.
