The Summit School campus is fully operational.  Students are on campus, the Admissions Office is accepting applications and the Summit Resource Center is seeing clients. When on campus all persons are required to follow directives designed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 including active social distancing, use of face masks, and regular hand washing and sanitizing.


EmPOWER™: A method for teaching expository writing

The Summit School will host a professional development course focused on teaching expository writing.  The course,  EmPOWER™: A method for teaching expository writing, will be given by Bonnie Singer, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Architects for Learning.  The course is open to general and special educators, grades 2-12.

EmPOWER is a proven method for teaching academic writing that makes teachers better teachers and students better writers, thinkers, and learners. EmPOWER is:

Course Details:

Full Day Classes: August 12, 13 and 14 from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm held at The Summit School, 664 East Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD.

Two-hour webinar classes: Sept. 10, 2019, Oct. 15, 2019, Dec. 3, 2019, Jan. 14, 2020 and April 14, 2020 from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm (online).
