The Summit School, located eight miles south of Annapolis, is a private school for bright children in grades 1-8 with learning differences, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and executive functions challenges. Summit offers small class sizes and individualized instruction in an ideal setting.

The Summit School:

FT Teaching Positions: The Summit School in Edgewater, MD, is seeking forward thinking, committed education professionals for the 2021-2022 school year. We have a variety of teaching positions spanning our grade levels and content area; we are seeking teachers who are comfortable teaching English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science/STEM.   We are flexible with teacher preferences for grade level and content area.  These positions are full-time, requiring Maryland teaching certification or eligibility, with Special Education certification a plus. Training, in a systematic, multisensory, phonics approach to teaching reading and spelling decoding, is very desirable. Speech/Language Pathologist, FT: The Summit school is seeking a full-time speech-language Pathologist, with a master’s degree and the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. Maryland State license or eligibility is also required. However, Clinical Fellow candidates are welcome. The ideal candidate has a strong background and interest in collaborative, school-based work that includes interventions in reading and written language along with knowledge and interventions that focus on the oral language underpinnings for academic success.

Professionals benefit from small classes/caseload, professional development, professional collegiality, and strong support from school leadership. This position entails classroom collaboration and direct intervention. Innovative, creative and evidence-based service delivery serve as the cornerstones for our strong, data-driven, outcomes-based program. Substitutes: Grades 1-8. Education or Special Education degree and experience. Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or Higher.

  • $110.00 per day for up to 10 days
  • $140.00 per day for long term 11+ days.

Summit Resource Center:

Coordinator, Summit Resource Center: Coordinator needed for Summit Resource Center. The Summit Resource Center, an umbrella of The Summit School, provides ancillary services to the community such as diagnostic testing, tutoring, informational workshops, and professional development. The ideal candidate possesses background / experience in special education, speech/language pathology, school psychology or counseling.  Must be a team player, detail-oriented, personable. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask a must.

Main position responsibilities:

  • Building relationships with potential clients and scheduling appointments
  • Coordinate all facets of testing including maintaining material inventory, regular communication with clinicians, follow up with clients during (if necessary) and after the evaluation experience.
  • Manage tutor team (including regular tutor meet ups and scheduling professional development) and client placement.
  • Manage summer camps registration.
  • Design, plan, and execute annual symposia including collaborating with Director of Marketing and Communications for marketing and publication design
  • Serve on enrollment management team
