As part of our commitment, The Summit School is pleased to announce we are adding a new assessment and reporting tool called aimswebPlus. Dr. Joan Mele-McCarthy, The Summit School Executive Director said, “aimswebPlus provides the best possible data, in the shortest amount of time, ensuring that the focus stays on educating. This tool links assessment to instruction. Our students have unique learning profiles and this tool helps us conduct sensitive progress monitoring to determine growth toward individual goals. We know if our daily instructional decisions are working and if not, what needs to be changed.”
The Summit School just concluded a year-long beta test and the results are in: aimswebPlus is a valuable tool in helping understand how students are performing. “We are delivering individualized, researched-based curriculum with data that validates and supports our teachers,” said Dr. McCarthy. The year-long beta test also confirmed that the majority of Summit students are exceeding national norms for average rate of improvement. Not just compared to their peers with learning differences but for ALL children.
Recently, grade level results were presented to Summit parents who wholeheartedly embraced both the progress monitoring and results. Parents are looking forward to end-of-year conferences during which comprehensive results will be discussed. For those considering enrolling their child at The Summit School, aimswebPlus will be used to benchmark and progress monitor, identifying areas of both risk and growth. Progress to individual goals supported by “real-time” data is one way The Summit School ensures that students are prepared for success in high school and beyond.
